- Abstract
In the series of hermeneutic readings, it is aimed to find the equivalents of the theories, laws and / or ideas written in a different scientific paradigm within the current paradigm. In addition to making them understandable in the contemporary paradigm, the objective is to make the contributions they offer to the universe or subject areas they are working in today. The first topic of the Hermeneutic readings publication series was Empedocles' love and hate concepts. In the first publication, the concept of hate from these concepts was read on the axis of entropy within the present paradigm. The subject of the second publication was the concepts of love and hate in the philosophy of Empedocles. In this study, especially the concept of love was emphasized and a reading was made on the Higgs Boson axis within the standard model in the present paradigm. Empedocles BC. Ancient Greek philosopher who lived between 490-430. He participated in the debates before him, but unlike them, he provided a pluralistic understanding. He argues that the essence of objects is four elements. While the air, water and fire in the m four element theory he were defended singularly by the previous philosophers, Empedocles introduced a pluralistic approach by adding the soil to these principles. According to Empedocles, everything in the universe consists of mixtures of four elements in different proportions. The formation and degradation in the universe is caused by the merging and dissolution of these four elements. According to Empedocles, the love that holds these elements together is the hate that allows it to separate. Although Empedocles carries a metaphoric connection with the use of love and hate concepts in life, its meaning exceeds the concept. The standard model is a model describing the forces expressing the interactions between the particles forming the basic building blocks of the matter and the interactions between these particles. However, there is no mass of particles in this model. It is thought that the Higgs decay, which was detected in the experiments conducted in 2012 in CERN, gave mass to the subparticles. Sub-sub-particles gain mass in proportion to their interaction with the Higgs field. In this context, the Higgs boson has a structure or function that keeps the components of the substance together and changes in the direction of matter formation. With this characteristic, it is seen that there is a purposeful and functional connection between the concept of love and the Higgs boson by directing Empedocles to the basic elements of matter. In this study, this connection between Empedocles' concept of love and Higgs boson was examined in detail and a hermeneutic reading was performed.
