- Title
INVESTING BY IMPERATIVES.
- Authors
VINCENT, DAVID R.
- Abstract
The article explains imperative-driven management in businesses where the corporate infrastructure has been organized along horizontal lines and aligned with economic alliances. The discussion focuses on the flattened organizational structure, the three resources of people, capital, and information systems (IS), advice for leveraging information technology and determining the value of IS investments, and the role of IS in management's on-the-spot decision making, developing clear business priorities, and promoting an understanding or consensus for stakeholder relationships. The strategy of Dupont Chief Financial Officer Jack Quindlen--who used the imperative-driven, information-based, frontline-oriented management style--is mentioned.
