- Abstract
Bioluminescence induced by luciferases of marine bacteria promotes repair of UV-damaged DNA in Escherichia coli AB1886 uvrA6. Bacterial photolyase, which implements photoreactivation activity, was identified as a major contributor to DNA repair. However, a UV-induced increase in bioluminescence (SOS induction) of bacterial cells was insufficient for efficient photoreactivation.
