- Abstract
The article focuses on the hemagglutination and platelet aggregation stimulated by Porphyromonas gingivalis cells, one of the most important etiological agents of chronic periodontitis. It says that the study of M.A. Curtis and colleagues reveals that proteinase preparation from P. gingivalis is capable of inducing platelet aggregation with purified platelets. Moreover, P. gingivalis that enters the human circulatory system ensuing transient bacteremia may induce infective endocarditis.
