- Abstract
The article reports on a medical case of allergic contact dermatitis from gold on a hearing-aid mould. A 13-year-old girl with a past history of flexural atopic eczema and profound sensorineural deafness, presented with a 3-year history of an ill-defined, itchy, exudative, scaly, erythematous rash in her right concha, extending over the tragus and preauricular skin. Within her right ear she wore a hearing-aid with a silicon mould, and, although this was substituted with a plastic and then a gold-plated mould, the eczema persisted.
