Tanaka, Kazuyuki
- Abstract
The article focuses on a study regarding the distribution and mechanisms of Rattus rattus which are warfarin resistant black rats found in Japan. It mentions that warfarin inhibits blood coagulation by inhibiting vitamin K 2,3-epoxide reductase (VKOR) activity that leads to hemorrhage. It analyzes mutations in the VKOR gene and clotting factor activity in black rats. The study reveals that warfarin resistance in the Japanese black rat is due to the mutations in VKORC1 gene.
