- Abstract
The article focuses on a study regarding a pair of di-basic amino acid residues that was introduced at the cleavage site HA of A/duck/Hokkaido/Vac-2/2004 (H7N7) influenza virus. The study involved consecutive passages of the virus that were performed in the air sacs of chicks, and the identification of virus factors in pathogenicity. The result showed that the amino acid residues, E227G and I388T in the HA, are essential for the acquisition of intravenous pathogenicity in chickens.
