- Title
Mass spectrometry identifies lipid functions.
- Abstract
The article presents information about the three mass spectrometers from Applied Biosystems, API 2000™ API 3000™ and 4000 Q TRAP® LC\MS\MS System, that have been procured by the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands for their lipidomics research facility. Jos Brouwers, assistant professor within the biochemistry department informs that the reason the University procured the equipment was because it needed increased sensitivity and resolution to look more closely at the lipid subtypes, subclasses and molecular species. These spectrometers have the advantage of being able to switch between positive and negative modes within a second.
