- Abstract
Undestanding simultaneous cooperative and competitive dynamics in coopetitive relationships is of crucial importance of success in turbulent external conditions. This study empirically investigates questions in coopetition literature: to what extend firms which create training games are willing to cooperate with their competitors? What are the main benefits from coopetitive relationships? Are firms aware of potential threats of cooperation? And finally, what prevents firms from cooperating with competitors? The results of a case study of six firms which design training games show that firms cooperate mainly to improve their products quality and consumer service. The article further highlights several benefits from cooperation e.g.: products of higher quality, possibility to meet new clients or to conduct complex tasks. Coopetition is viewed as a potentionally beneficial relationship, but according to the results of a study it can be risky as well. Distrust is the main reason which prevents firms from cooperation. This study extends knowledge of the dynamics and fields of cooperation.
