- Abstract
This article presents a study lymphoblastic lymphoma in medaka, Oryzias latipes. The medaka, Oryzias latipes, a small aquarium fish, is found in some parts of Asia and seems to have many advantages as a laboratory animal for screening of carcinogenicity since its maintenance is neither cost- nor time-consuming. Lymphoblastic lymphoma is the most common tumour of lymphopoietic tissue, comprising approximately 80% of the cases examined and/or reported in fish. The present report concerns two cases of lymphoblastic lymphoma in medaka examined by light and electron microscopy. Histological changes were characterized by homogeneous masses of large blastoid cells which infiltrated through the intercellular spaces of the somatic muscle tissue.
