- Abstract
The article discusses the relation of Irish politician John Redmond and the organisation Irish Volunteers to armed constitutionalism as an ideological approach. Topics include the relation of World War I to Irish independence efforts, opposition to the paramilitary organisation Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF), and the position of the organisation Irish Parliamentary Party on other groups. Redmond's approach to creating an Irish army in relation to the British War Office is noted.
