- Abstract
O mastocitoma é uma neoplasia maligna originária de mastócitos, com comportamento variado e imprevisível, considerado o tumor cutâneo mais comum nos cães. Amostra de um cão macho, sem raça definida, de 11 anos, não castrado, encaminhada para exame citológico, que foi coletada por punção por agulha fina, corada com Panótico®, de um nódulo de região torácica direita medindo 12,5 X 6,0 cm, irregular, de coloração arroxeada, ulcerado e aderido. O paciente realizou nodulectomia na mesma localização há dois meses com crescimento acelerado. Ao exame físico foi observada linfadenomegalia em linfonodos mandibulares e cervical direito, apatia, mucosas hipocoradas, desidratação (7%), atrofia muscular em região escapular e temporal acentuadas, além de auscultação pulmonar ruidosa. Na fotomicrografia é possível observar: hipercelularidade composta por mastócitos; moderada anisocitose; discreta basofilia citoplasmática com variação na granulação citoplasmática; discreto pleomorfismo celular caracterizado pelo predomínio de formas redondas e raras formas ovais e plasmocitóides. As células apresentam baixa a moderada relação núcleo/citoplasma (40 a 50%). Quando visíveis os núcleos são arredondados a ovalados (ocasionalmente), apresentando localização central e eventualmente excêntrica, com moderada anisocariose e cromatina densa, contendo nucléolos proeminentes e múltiplos (1-3), quando evidentes. Moderada quantidade de debris celulares e cromatina nuclear livre. Fundo de lâmina com intensa quantidade de grânulos semelhantes aos observados no citoplasma dos mastócitos. As características celulares descritas são sugestivas de um mastocitoma bem diferenciado, o que deve ser confirmado em exame histopatológico. Em comum acordo entre o tutor e a equipe veterinária foi decidida pela eutanásia do paciente, visto que o mesmo encontrava-se extremamente debilitado.
