- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "The Gulag Archipelago," by Alexandr Solzhenitsyn is presented. It states that the book documents the horrors of the Soviet prison system that was experienced by Solzhenitsyn who served as a political prisoner for eight years. It examines the metaphor of the archipelago as the vast island chain of holding facilities including prisons, labor camps, and interrogation centers. An overview of the story is also given.
