- Title
U.S. Navy Orders Airship Made of Laminated Textiles.
- Abstract
The article reports on the first experimental airship made of laminated textiles commissioned by the U.S. Navy. The airship is similar to the Skyship 5000 brought in by the American man-made fiber industry during the 2001 International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Fiber-Reinforced materials (Techtextil) in Frankfurt, West Germany. The aircraft will be constructed in England and furnished in the U.S. and will be utilized for supervising the movements of aircraft and ships and for tracking approaching rockets.
