- Abstract
In this text, written to contextualize the emergence of the organization, as well as its nature and relevance, the results of research carried out based on a literature review on the historical and social connections promoted by this social institution are shown. Likewise, it reviewed how, based on the context of the Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution, science is used to explain, understand and operate in the social and natural world. This allows consolidation of at least four epistemological standpoints (positivism, interpretivism, criticism and post-modernism). The main result of this work is the identification of how organizational theory has been constructed based on these epistemological frameworks. Finally, the need for an epistemology concerning the complex organizational phenomenon and its interrelationship with the natural and social worlds is suggested.
