- Title
AUSTRALIAN SWIFTLET (AERODRAMUS TERRAEREGINAE) BREEDING LIMITED BY LA NIÑA WEATHER IN NORTH QUEENSLAND.
- Authors
TARBURTON, MICHAEL
- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of La Niña weather on the breeding of Australian Swiftlet Aerodramus Terraereginae during the 2010-2011 wet season in North Queensland. The author found that the nesting chamber at Rescue Cave had no intact nests and a water line four metres from the floor. A visit of colonies at Golgotha Cave revealed that the upper colony containing 34 good nests and more than 100 birds managed to breed while the nests at the lower colony were too wet to hold together.
