- Abstract
The article reports on progressive histologic skin disease changes observed in C57BL/6J substrains. According to the authors, several C57BL/6 or B6 substrains are used in basic biomedical research and focal alopecia, which may lead to severe ulcerative dermatitis, is one of the B6 strain-specific background diseases. They report that in the particular substrain observed, lesions were found to have developed due to follicular dystrophy which led to secondary foreign body granulomas in mice affected by B6 substrains.
