- Abstract
This article, published in the Journal of Plant Pathology, reports on the first occurrence of Globisporangium ultimum causing postharvest fruit rot of peach in China. The study was conducted in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, where 10% of peach fruits in a supermarket exhibited rot symptoms. The researchers isolated an oomycetes from the diseased fruit and identified it as Globisporangium ultimum through phylogenetic analysis. Koch's postulates were fulfilled by re-isolating the oomycetes from inoculated fruits. This finding expands our understanding of the pathogens that can cause fruit rot in peaches and has implications for the management of postharvest diseases in China.
