- Abstract
In this paper, we propose a higher order extension of well-known fourth order Ostrowski's iterative method for solving algebraic and transcendental equations. The newly proposed scheme would involve the evaluation of the function and the first derivative of the function, similar to Ostrowski's method. The expansion of the Taylor series is used to achieve theoretical convergence of the newly proposed tenth order technique. Several numerical experiments support the underlying theory on the convergence order of the proposed method. The performance of the newly proposed method has been compared with the existing well known competitors on some classic academic problems. Numerical tests reveal that the new method is comparable to existing methods and produces better results within less CPU time.
