- Abstract
The article presents a speech by Nathaniel Smith and Janet Guildford, read before the Royal Nova Scotia Historical Society on September 15, 2010. It concerns twentieth century Nova Scotian political activist Florence E. Welton and her involvement in the party the Nova Scotia Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) and the New Party, later the New Democratic Party (NDP). Her memoir "My Journey in Politics: A Rough Road" is discussed, examining questions of sex inequality and discrimination.
