Kastamonu İlinde İntihar Girişimlerinin Psikososyal Değerlendirmesi: Krizi Önleme ve Müdahale Yöntemleri Nasıl Olmalı?

- Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study is for guiding to the implementation of the social protection programs in longterm, by examining suicide attempts. Method: Patients who admitted to Kastamonu State Hospital Emergency Unit with suicide attempt and agreed to participate in the study are directed to the psychiatric outpatient clinic for further investigation. After conducting a detailed psychiatric interview all patients were applied sociodemographic data form and their history of psychiatric illness were disputed. Family Assessment Device, Problem-Solving Inventory, Coping Strategies Questionnaire, the Multidimensional Anger Scale, Beck Depression Scale and Beck Suicide Thoughts Scale were applied to all applicants. Results: Women attempted suicide more than men did. Attempts often had been occurred in summer months. Having previous attempts were detected as basic risk factor. Emotional response subscale scores were the highest in Family Assessment Device. The average score taken from Problem-Solving Inventory were 107.2 ± 23.1 and 125.6 ± 27.2 points were taken on Multidimensional Anger Scale. In Coping Strategies Scale, the most frequent strategies those patients used were positive reinterpretation and growth, substance use, planning, the least coping strategy that patients used was acceptance. Beck Depression Scale scores were found 28±14, Beck Suicide Thoughts Scale scores were found 15.3 ±5.8. Conclusion: Further studies are needed for planning community-based social support instruments for the prevention of suicide attempts, improving coping strategies of persons and using the family support more effectively.
