- Abstract
Osteoporosis is the most common bone disease, affecting one in three women and one in five men over the age of 50 worldwide, ultimately affecting nearly 70% of women over the age of 80. The clinical consequence of osteoporosis, which also constitutes its major complication, is a fragility fracture. Globally, it is estimated that osteoporosis is responsible for 9 million fractures each year, or one fracture every 3 seconds. Therefore, its screening in general medicine appears essential. This observation leads to several questions: what is the prescribing attitude of general practitioners? What importance do they give to this screening in their practice? What are the possible obstacles to this screening?
