- Abstract
The article provides an overview of a case of hyperlipaemia in a pregnant horse with suspected masseter myodegeneration due to vitamin E and selenium deficiency. On presentation, the animal was dull with tachycardia and both masseters were grossly swollen. The animal was diagnosed with masseter myodegeneration and was treated with intramuscular injections of α-tocopherol/selenium, Within 24 hours, the animal started eating well, with reduced masseter swelling.
