- Abstract
The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship among the intention of physical activity practice, current activity, motivation and life satisfaction of Spanish teachers. Through a descriptive, predictive and cross-sectional design, a questionnaire with different instruments was administered to a sample of 649 active teachers. Initially, an analysis of the psychometric properties of the scales was carried out by means of a confirmatory factorial analysis and factor reliability, finding suitable adjustment indices. Subsequently, a correlational analysis and multiple linear regression were performed using the successive steps method. The highest correlations were among the reasons of fun, competition, fitness and current and future physical activity (p <.05). The results show that fun, competition and fitness reasons have the ability to predict current physical activity (R2 =.32; p <.001); while all physical activity reasons, except social ones, predict intention to be physically active in the future (R2 =.59; p <.001). Finally, a tendency was found that the practice of physical activity for fun significantly predicts life satisfaction.
