Examines the Buddhist idea of `emptiness' (sunyata), in an attempt to better understand the meaning of these ideas as used by philosophers of the Koyoto school of philosophy. Examination of the history and development of the idea of sunyata and related terms in Buddhism; Analysis of sunyata as interpreted and used in the religious philosophy of Nishida, Nishitani and Abe, three Koyoto philosophers.
