- Abstract
The article discusses the results of a randomised controlled trial issued in "The Lancet," which present a challenge to the routine practice of the serum tumour marker cancer antigen 125 (CA-125) surveillance. The trial discovered that using CA-125 surveillance every three months did not enhance survival or quality of life. Women who had delayed treatment reported a higher quality of life than those treated earlier. Critics identified confounding factors in the design and analysis of the study.
