- Title
Plant pathogens: Oomycete kinase blights potatoes.
- Authors
Jermy, Andrew
- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the effector crinkler 8 (CRN8) active kinase secreted by phytophthora infestans into plants to improve virulence. It references the study "The Irish potato famine pathogen Phytophthora infestans translocates the CRN8 kinase into host plant cells," by M. van Damme and colleagues in the 2012 issue. The authors found that CRN8 lacks the band to suggests their autophosphorylation and that it does not require kinase activity for its cell death function.
