Mapping City Space: Independent Film-makers as Urban Gazetteers.
- Authors
Hallam, Julia
- Abstract
The article discusses how amateur films made by Merseyside film-making groups in the 1950s and 1960s map a history of Liverpool city centre at a time of redevelopment and change. It presents the amateur films that form part of the Pleasures Past series created and produced by Angus Tilston, independent filmmaker and collector. It also features several amateur films such as "Boat for Businessmen," by Norman Couch, "Fair Play," by George Gregory and "Every Day Except Christmas," by Lindsay Anderson.
