The editor discusses the connection between science literacy, reading, and writing. She presents benefits to students' writing when combining language arts and science education, provides a website, located at www.nsta.org/publications/ostb, for information on the National Science Teachers Associations' list Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students K–12, and describes an assignment used in her classroom to combine language arts and science.
