- Abstract
The article explores the use of formative assessments in a kindergarten class in the Berlin Brothersvalley School District in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, focusing on how the assessment methods measured levels of student understanding and learning. Particular attention is given to a lesson led by teacher Marilyn Cornell that examined the observable properties of wood and what occurred when drops of water were placed on different types of wood.
