- Abstract
The article discusses how science can be used to promote oral language development in children. It is stated that for English learners (ELs), every science lesson provides an opportunity for language development for first- and second-language learners. Student talk allows learners to practice, negotiate in, and learn about the language, due to which more opportunities are added for student talk to science lessons to make this a more effective science and language lesson.
