Richter, David H.
- Abstract
The article presents a critique of translinguistic philology in poetry. It addresses the relation with the vernacular dialects of the native languages, the portrayal of the conflicts within and between social, economic and occupational groups, and the conception of the novel as dialogical. Poems explored include "Parting," by Alexander Pushkin, "Tinturn Abbey," by William Wordsworth, and "Epistle to Dr. Arbuthnot," by Alexander Pope.
