- Title
Getting to the Points of a Semantic Map.
- Authors
Zwarts, Joost
- Abstract
The article presents the author's response to the commentary "A Multitude of Approaches to Make Semantic Maps," by Michael Cysouw. The author argues that the fact that the three examples in his paper do not use cross-linguistic comparison to determine the relations between the meanings on the map implies that they must establish those relations based on the properties of the points themselves. He suggests that distinguishing between linguistic and non-linguistic methods for determining the relations between meanings can be cramped by terminology.
