- Authors
Giménez, Susana Sanz
- Abstract
The article discusses the artwork of Taiwanese video artist Chen Chieh-jen, focusing on the relationship of his art to the history of Taiwan. Chen's use of the concept of the body within his artwork is closely analyzed by the author, focusing on the way this use ultimately altered the development of Taiwanese art following an era of martial law on the island. The author is more broadly concerned with the effects of the government of the Taiwanese Kuomintang party (and its demise) on the development of Taiwanese art in general.
