- Abstract
The subway rail needs to be replaced when it reaches the overhaul period. In order to explore the relationship between the wear level of used rail and wheel-rail matching relationship, the influence of rail profile on the equivalent conicity was analyzed by measuring the profiles of used rails and simulating the matched wheel-rail equivalent conicity. The results show that: (1) It is reasonable and reliable to calculate the equivalent conicity by using UIC519 integral method and wheel-rail contact model in multi-body dynamics software UM. (2) While the million gross tons reaches 600, the rail wear is generally less than 3 mm in the straight line, which is far less than the limit of 16 mm for side wear and 14 mm for vertical wear according to the maintenance rules. (3) All wheel-rail equivalent conicity values of the used rail with profile measured are within the standard limit, which indicate that the rail wear has little effect on wheel-rail dynamics. (4) The flat vertical wear of the rail profile has a relatively large impact on the equivalent conicity, which means that it will not be conducive to the comfort and safety once the top of the rail is flat.
