- Abstract
The aim of this research is to try to offer solutions by determining the risks that students who reach primary schools in Rize's Fındıklı district center on foot may encounter on their way to school. In the study, since it is aimed to reveal in depth the interrelated risk factors that may endanger the lives of students on the way to school, the nested single-case design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used as the analysis unit. The data were collected by the oral application of the interview form containing two semi-structured questions developed by the researcher to 24 participants and interpreted by subjecting it to content analysis. As a result of the research, the participants stated that motor vehicles on the way to school pose a great risk for children, there is not enough awareness among citizens about the use of common living spaces, and the current measures taken for the safety of students are insufficient. It is concluded that raising the awareness of citizens about the more efficient use of common living spaces in order to prevent the aforementioned negativities, taking environmental precautions, increasing the number of traffic signs and physical traffic restrictions, intensifying inspection activities, making the city more livable for children will contribute to the safe transportation of children.
