- Title
A Tale of Two Socossions in the Sahara.
- Authors
Trumbull IV, George R.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the social conditions of Timbuktu, Mali, wherein its descration of burial markers and tombs in July 2012 has failed to register as cultural vandalism. It says that such crimes against the Islamic cultural heritage may presage damage to the people of Sahara, which served as the battleground in the global war on terrorist. It mentions that the failure to address the consequences of salafi movements and resource economics has shaken the foundation of Mali and Niger with which Europe and the U.S. interact. It adds that the unrecognized secession of Azawad is the unified act of rebel groups, in which Tuareg demands a just economic system and acknowledgment of the ecological changes.
