- Title
MAURITANIA.
- Abstract
Protests have erupted in the town of Amourj in Mauritania over poor public services, particularly water and electricity provision. The protesters demanded an urgent solution to the problem and set fire to tires. The government has also authorized the creation of a new court to combat slavery, human trafficking, and migrant smuggling, aiming to improve the efficiency of the judicial system. Mauritania abolished slavery in 1981 but still has a significant number of people living as slaves.
