- Title
NIGERIA: Budget 2024.
- Abstract
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria's All Progressives Congress (APC) administration has presented the 2024 federal government budget, titled "Budget of Renewed Hope," to the National Assembly. The budget focuses on infrastructure, human capital development, and defense and security, but there are doubts about its realism and concerns about oil revenues, inflation, and GDP growth. Boosting non-oil revenues and implementing economic reforms are seen as necessary for Nigeria's long-term financial stability. The article also discusses Nigeria's economic situation, including high population growth, significant poverty levels, and challenges in the oil sector. Gas is seen as a potential source of economic growth, and the government is exploring opportunities to supply gas to other countries. The article briefly mentions the overturning of a $11 billion arbitration award and provides a table showing the allocation of funds in Nigeria's 2024 Appropriation Bill.
