- Abstract
The article discusses rayon, also known as artificial silk or Kunstseide, in Germany during the late Weimar Republic. It particularly focuses on rayon advertisements, analyzing the roles of consumerism and biopolitics and exploring gendered marketing aimed at women. The author comments on German ideas about health, fitness, technology, and hygiene. Other topics include nudism, the German rayon manufacturer the JP Bemberg Company, and advertisements in the German newsweekly "Berliner illustrirte Zeitung" (BiZ). The article also offers comparisons to rayon marketing in France and Great Britain.
