- Abstract
The article discusses the careers of ministers of the Congregationalist Church in New England between 1700 and 1760. Using a collective biography method of studying eighteenth century Congregational ministers, it considers their social contexts by exploring such topics as social status and prestige, alternate careers such as medicine or law, genealogy of ministers, and their education at Harvard or Yale colleges.
