- Abstract
The article focuses on the ability of cancers to build their own extracellular matrix (ECM) highway that promotes directional cell migration based on a presentation by Ning Yang and Andreas Friedl. It refers to syndecan-1, a transmembrane proteoglycan that interacts with the components of ECM and promotes growth factor signaling, as the matrix receptor protein in charge of the construction. The presentation revealed that the syndecan-1-induced ECM did not prompt carcinoma cell proliferation.
