- Title
Manufacturing's loss, Trump's gain.
- Authors
ATKINSON, ROBERT
- Abstract
The author discusses aspects of manufacturing that drive those hurt by trade to support the presidential candidacy of Republican candidate Donald Trump. He explains the core beliefs and views about trade policy, and cites the views by William B. Bonvillian on Trump's working class voters in the decline of the manufacturing industry. The author thinks the real choice is between weak trade enforcement in domestic policy and a new system of innovative mercantilism and rules-based globalization.
