- Abstract
The aim of the present study was to determine the influence of an aerobic and anaerobic exercise session on the visual memory of university students. For this purpose, 45 students on the physical education undergraduate program at SEK University, Chile, were evaluated by means of the Benton Visual Retention Test (Form D), before and after the exercise intervention. The results show an improvement for levels of visual memory in the university students subjected to a 30 minute aerobic exercise session. Similar results were obtained for the students submitted to an anaerobic weight training session for four muscle groups. It is possible to conclude that the acute application of both types of physical exercise produces improvements in the levels of visual memory in the sample. Future investigations are necessary for different intensities of anaerobic exercise and their relationship with memory and other cognitive functions.
