- Title
EuGH: Immaterieller Schadensersatz für widerrechtliche Datenweitergabe durch Europol.
- Abstract
The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has ruled that Europol must pay non-material damages in the event of unlawful data disclosure. In the present case, a victim was awarded compensation of €2,000 as intimate conversations with his girlfriend were disclosed. The text also addresses a legal dispute concerning the liability of Europol. The plaintiff claims that Europol included his name in "Mafia lists" and publicly disclosed personal data. However, the court has determined that the plaintiff could not prove this. It emphasizes the importance of protecting personal data and states that unlawful data processing constitutes a violation of Union law norms.
