An essay is presented which examines the physical and social environment around resource claims in the Danau Sentarum National Park (DSNP), West Kalimantan, Indonesia. It offers a brief overview of the area, and analyzes how various local identities link to livelihoods and the diverse perceptions of resources and territories. It reflects on how power dynamics in the region has influenced local people, neighbors, and the state to address boundary issues.
