- Abstract
The article reports on the growth of rich Internet Applications (RIA) worldwide. It is gaining popularity across many Internet communities and applications. In October 1995, FutureWave Software met with John Warnock, Adobe chief executive officer (CEO) where they discussed Adobe's interested in acquiring FutureWave's technology, FutureSplash Animator. It is a software product that could create vector-based animations for presentations in a Web browser, but the Adobe did not pursue its plans. In December 1996, Macromedia acquired FutureWave Software and FutureSplash Animator, renamed Macromedia Flash, thus the RIA was born. Presented are the details of the issue. INSET: The Flash Family.
