- Abstract
Participation in tourism plays an important humanistic role, facilitating an individual in both vertical and horizontal development. Such an approach refers mainly to tourism of the disabled. Even though the research indicates that a lot of institutions and schemes in Poland tries to activate this group of citizens, however, comparing to Western Europe certain exclusion is still noticeable. Similar phenomena are observed in Jelenia Góra district where activities focused on offering certain objects and tourist attractions for the disabled are carried out. Nevertheless, the research covering this particular group of people reveals an unsatisfactory level of tourism function implementation due to the existing obstacles, mainly economic ones, but also architectural as well as - which constitutes a significant problem - psychological and mental barriers.
