The article examines the characteristics of Irish author W. B. Yeats' poems and Yeats as a poet of the past. Yeats' poems reportedly use the voice of the past regardless of their richness and magnificence, making him unique from his younger contemporaries. Topics include Yeats' views on the future, freedom and determinism and several of Yeats' poems. These poems include "The Wild Swans at Coole," "The Wanderings of Oisin," and "AVision."
