- Abstract
A literary criticism of the novels "The Plague of Doves" and "The Round House," both by Native American author Louise Erdich. Both books are grounded in the 1911 lynching of three Native Americans in Pluto, North Dakota for the alleged crime of murder, with the survivor a central character of both works. Topics include postmodernism in literature and criticism, historiography, and historical fiction, justice for Native American victims of crimes, especially women, and considerations of the novels' points of view.
